Indie author - afraid to change?

It’s daft I know.  There I am, an indie author, with books only selling the odd copy every now and then - yet for some reason I’m afraid to change things.  Perhaps part of it, as I talked about in my last blog, is the vain hope that an agent and publisher is going to come a long and wave their magic wands.  Well, that’s not going to happen and even if it does I’m still the one who is going to be making most of the running.

My writing - going back to basics 3)

At the risk of repeating myself I decided that a little help from an author than has sold millions of books world-wide couldn’t do any harm.  So I signed up for his masterclass and committed in my first blog on this subject to keep you posted as to how it goes and what I think of it.  So is it inspiring - yes it is.  Is it helping – yes.  Or at least I think it is.  It is certainly making me think about every aspect of my story telling.  Not so much perhaps the writing, but the story telling.

Go on - read some fantasy

Last week I extolled the values of great science fiction.  This week I'm doing the same for fantasy - so go on, put aside those prejudices of 'genre' fiction and read some fantasy: http://wp.me/p3ycbY-1cq

New book launch - learning from past mistakes

Last week I wrote of the rather haphazard book launch for my first two novels. For my next soon-to-be book launch I have more activities planned.  However, knowing that I need to vastly improve on my launch activities for my new book and putting together a coherent program are two different things.  My blog: http://wp.me/p3ycbY-1bV

7 key things I’ve learnt from a year of blogging

http://wp.me/p3ycbY-14T

It’s hard to believe it is a year since I set up my web site and started blogging.  One year on I’ve published two books for Kindle and over fifty blogs.  I’ve read a lot of blogs and a lot on blogging.  And I feel I’ve learnt something (I hope) on the art of blogging.  Below are seven of my key learnings.  If you’re an experienced blogger, new blogger, wondering about starting a blog, let me know what you think.

8 Writers 'Resolutions'

Not so much resolutions, more 8 things that I know I need to work on in 2014.  I'm sure others out there will sympathise / empathise.  Perhaps you have key areas you want to improve on - let me know.   http://wp.me/p3ycbY-11x

All the best for the coming year
